Trouble
Ive had the worst day, my installation room was needed for architecture so i had to move out of there…without doing any documentation.
this has turned nightmare-ish!
I need to find somewhere else to install and document, this just goes to show that when your working with a mix of health issues, technology and having to work around a school that is in the midst of alot of final critiques its never going to be as easy as you planned to install and document your work.
So, after loosing it, and having a pretty average day, im going to start again tomorrow and get something done!.
i really wish that i had a nice environment to display in, looking around the school theres not alot of places that dont have an awful aesthetic. theres too much going on in the background of most of the possible ares. something i really do not want for my documentation.
im going to talk to the workshop guys about the ergo lab or even the photography studio on ground floor..
also Elles room could be a possibility its small but could work. its atleast looks nice.
My installation can actually be installed anywhere there is the possibility of tying something up, but because i want nice documentation i’m pushing for a space that is free of clutter.
>SOUND
Im having a Okay time with sound, but i cant remember how to stop it from banging twice, i’ll figure it out :)
Going to find Chris to double check Re: 3.18

This is basically my final max patch. this area shows 2 of the 4 clips also a transition slider that determines how long it takes for the images to fade (using xfade)
Im now using a centroid camera input as this deals with mass, opposed to a framesubtractor cam input with just remove fore/background from images. this works much, much better.
im just about to fix my sounds which are position reactive through scissors. then i should be all done with this patch. ready for installation!
I sewed up my screens the widest of which is 2.37m im going to iron in the creases just before i hang the screens to make sure that they retain their “creased-ness”
i am a bit worried that im setting up my installation by myself. unfortunately i have a fear of standing on ladders (heights) so will probably have to go find someone that is braver than me for this part.
Documentation is still on the cards for tonight.
ive emailed mark shaw and he has no probs about me using the room till the early hours.
Terry is awesome,
Hes given me all the little gadgets i need to install next weekend.
1 x mini mac {this is now on my wish list}
1 x camera
+ All the cords and know-how of how to use them neato!
Now all i need to do is sew… ive been putting off purchasing the fabric for projection, i really need to be 100% sure about how much i need and what im going to do with it.
Tuesday is my ABSOLUTE dead line for this indecision.
i just need to have a chat to some people with sewing skills..
>Quiz Four Report
Olafur Eliasson… {i know he wasn’t spoken about expicitly, but neuromagic put me in his direction, so to speak}
I actually referenced Olafur in my neuro magic essay. In his own essay “Sorroundings surrounded” he speaks about a relationship between science and art. however it was his ideas of space and knowledge that had me interested.
Amoung his many light installations Eliasson experimented with atmospheric density within an exhibition space. ‘360 degrees Room for all colours’ is a round light-scuplture where participants loose their sense of space and perspective, they are in a sense submerged in an intense light
Eliassons ideas and understanding of how individuals interpret their environment they are within really resonated within me. I already have a strong interest in the tacit knowledge of individuals, and how people percieve things differently. I found Eliassons work a true interest point at the beginning of my project.
I feel that having researched this area of cognitive understanding i can, in the future, push projects in a direction that exemplifies my understanding of this topic.
>I love these tessellation’s and triangular perpesctives just amazing
I really dont mean to reblog, but see what an added perspective can do to a landscape/ environment?!
It changes the way you might understand the space you are in, How small/big are you? where do you stand in relation to what you see?
so simple
I prefer what this trying to portray, rather than how it looks per say..[rhyming is fun]
The images look like they are photoshopped. But they are not. This is a sculpture by Neil Dawson called “Horizons”. It looks like a drawn piece of paper but it is actually a welded steel structure.
This optical illusion is located at The Farm, a large private park in New Zealand owned by a multimillionaire.
